Common questions
What does the monthly subscription include and how long am I committed?
The monthly subscription gives you full platform access for an initial 12-month term, billed monthly. After the first 12 months, the subscription continues month to month and can be cancelled with 30 days notice. The 12-month minimum reflects the depth of relationship the platform creates: regulated escrow accounts, KYC for every party on your projects, and audit trails that grow more valuable the longer the relationship continues.
How does the annual plan work and how much do I save?
Pay upfront for the full year and save. Subcontractors pay $2,500/year +GST (saves $500 vs monthly billing). Builders pay $3,000/year +GST (saves $600 vs monthly). Annual plans include the same full feature access as monthly. The annual plan is the cheapest way to use BuildFair if you know you'll be on the platform for the full year.
What is the founding 100 offer and who qualifies?
The first 100 builders to join BuildFair pay for one year ($3,000 +GST) and get three years of access at the same price level, locked in. The offer reflects the value the founding cohort brings: shaping the product, generating early case studies, and building network effect with their subcontractors and suppliers. Once the 100 spots are filled, standard pricing applies. Apply through the founding 100 sign-up to be considered.
Are there any other fees beyond the subscription?
Your plan covers the full platform fee. The only pass-through cost is the standard credit card processing fee when you choose to pay a supplier or subcontractor by card, charged at cost via ZenPay with no markup added by BuildFair. BuildFair absorbs our banking partner Kobble's transaction fees, so bank payments and payouts carry no per-transaction fee. There are no per-project fees, no setup fees, and no early termination fees beyond the 12-month subscription minimum.
What if I'm both a builder and a subcontractor on different projects?
Choose the plan that matches your primary role. Builder plans include the operational toolset (running projects, approving invoices, dual-approval for payouts, defect tracking, owner-facing visibility). Subcontractor plans include the receiving toolset (submitting invoices, tracking payments, document uploads). Most users find one role dominates their work and one plan covers their needs. If you genuinely operate at scale in both roles and need the full builder toolset on some projects, contact us.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your project records are retained for 7 years to meet Australian tax law requirements and to preserve the audit trail in case any project goes to dispute resolution, SOPA adjudication, or other legal process where the BuildFair record is evidence. You can export full audit trails and cashflow records at any time, before or after cancellation. The data stays available to the parties involved in each project, even after a builder or subcontractor account is closed.
Do my project owners or suppliers pay anything?
No. Project owners are invited to your project by you, at no cost to them and no additional cost to you. Supplier relationships work differently and are handled through enterprise contracts, so any supplier deal is negotiated separately and not part of your builder subscription.
Can I switch from monthly to annual or vice versa?
Yes. You can switch from monthly to annual at any time and the change takes effect immediately, with the annual saving applied. Switching from annual to monthly happens at renewal. Contact support to make either change.
Is GST included in the prices shown?
No, prices shown are exclusive of GST. The +GST notation throughout the page indicates GST is added at checkout. All amounts will appear with GST at the point of payment.
